Become a Voting Member of Sunburnt Arts

The mission of the Company is to promote cultural forms in a manner that is consistent with the Ten Principles of Burning Man, lifting the human spirit and addressing social problems as a means to inspiring a sense of culture, community and cultural engagement. The Company seeks to do this for the benefit of participants and the wider community. 

Sunburnt Arts is a registered charity that has members who vote for Sunburnt Events Town Council and the Board of Sunburnt Arts.

Sunburnt Arts has been established to continue the legacy of the Burning Man Project for all Australians. From humble beginnings at a small gathering  of artists and collaborators, our annual event - Burning Seed germinated over a decade ago.  Burning Seed is Sunburnt Arts' marquee event that brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in our shared mission.

Sunburnt Arts has applied for registration as a charity advancing culture.

Sunburnt Arts is a public company limited by guarantee which is established to be, and to continue as, a Charity.

The Purpose for which the Company is established is to advance and promote certain cultural forms and activities including music, performing arts, visual arts, and art illustration, by any means.

Sunburnt events is the organisation that has only one member which is the Sunburnt Arts company.

Sunburnt Arts has been established to continue the legacy of the Burning Seed. Sunburnt Events will manage Burning Seed with a similar structure to the current one. Town Council is responsible for managing the production under licence to the member based company (Sunburnt Arts) who holds the rights to the Burning Seed trademarks. 

The Company is a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee which is established to be, and to continue as, a Charity.

The Purpose for which the Company is established is to advance and promote certain cultural forms and activities including music, performing arts, visual arts, and art illustration, by any means.  

It is very important to understand your legal obligations as a member of the company.

 Sunburnt Arts is a company limited by guarantee. That means that if the company ends (winds up) and cannot pay its debts, the members pay the guarantee amount registered with ASIC. 

This amount is AU$10.

5.4.1.1 receive notices of, attend and speak at a General Meeting;

5.4.1.2 vote at a General Meeting; and

5.4.1.3 receive any additional Voting Member benefits as are prescribed by the Board from time to time.

You must be a Voting Member to nominate for the Sunburnt Events Town Council & the Sunburnt Arts Board

Voting Members currently pay an annual fee of AU$10 and have the right to vote in elections and on some business matters proposed at general meetings as set out in the Constitution.

There is no joining fee at this time.

Other types of membership may be introduced when the elected Board is installed.

Eligible Voting Members with the required skills and knowledge to serve on the Town Council of Sunburnt Events are encouraged to nominate for the forthcoming election once their membership applications have been confirmed.

Sunburnt Events will be granted the licence to produce and promote the Burning Seed event on behalf of the members of Sunburnt Arts.
